Three years ago the youth ministry moved into what is now called "the chapel." We have grown into our new space and have become at home with the pews and stain-glass windows.
Even though the vibe is "high church" we make the best of it and have created some great memories. One of my favorite memories from this past year was the All-most series. We had a number of our leaders share their stories and the impact on the lives of the students was obvious. Another great memory was this year's winter camp. Many of the students made decisions to follow Jesus with their entire lives. Check out the video if you have not seen it yet: http://vimeo.com/38863783 The number of students involved with 30hr famine was great and to hear reflections from the students on how this impacted their life was priceless. All three of our interns were back for a second year. This really helped us to hit the ground running in the fall. They all did an amazing job. I could go on and on, but this would be a real long post.
As far as the summer I am excited about reintroducing Journey a curriculum we developed a few years ago to help students with their spiritual growth. Each week a different leader will lead a discussion on one of the topics. We will cover such topics as prayer, caring for creation, the holy spirit, friendship and more. Each night is then filled with a great activity like going to a movie with 60 of your friends to 80 of us going crazy at sky high and of course our nights out on Northstar. One of our main purposes for summer is to create memories for students. Connecting them with old and new friends and strengthening bonds with our adult leaders helps us to create those memories.
Looking forward to another great summer,
